PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Writing and Communications

• Researched and wrote numerous explanatory text panels for art gallery exhibitions

• Interviewed and prepared a wide variety of artist biographies and edited artist statements

• Researched, prepared, and wrote strategic plans, reports, memo's, grant proposals, as well as critical essays

• Developed expertise in targeting audiences through visual as well as print media

• Scripted, directed, and produced video projects, documenting and representing artists and their work

Curatorial

• Director of Carnegie Mellon University’s art galleries for over a decade (Miller Gallery and Hewlett Gallery)

• Curator and juror of exhibits in 2D and 3D mediums ranging from paintings, prints, photography,

   quilts, sculpture, architecture, communication, industrial and theater design, video (monitor and projection), 

hologram light, scientific equipment, computers, to multi-media and site-specific installations

• Panelist for private and government grant-making institutions to the arts (Heinz Endowments, ProArts/GPAA)

Presentation and Teaching

• Developed and taught cross-disciplinary university courses in design, media, film and psychology

• Facilitated three-day retreat on writing artist statements for thirty-two textile artists

• Lectured and organized readings, film and video viewings, and taught over one hundred video editing workshops

• Coordinated, prepared and taught review sessions in financial accounting, analysis, management and control

Management and Administration

• Supervised and coordinated daily operations of Carnegie Mellon's student video editing facility
